The Department of Consumer Affairs in its endeavour to make the consumer aware of what the market holds had formulated the Legal Metrology Act and Rules wherein certain guidelines were laid down for sellers and their accountability was established and for consumers to be more aware of certain things like uniform MRP, quantity, date of import / manufacture, consumer redressal etc. With the rapidly changing face of consumerism, the standards, accountability, transparency etc all need to increase. With this in mind, the govt is constantly updating these rules and regulations. This course has been designed to educate its participants on the laws of Metrology, and how and why it is applicable to them and its compliance. In addition, this course also focuses on the penal provisions which are attracted due to non compliance.

  3. How Is Legal Metrology relevant in the present world for consumers, corporates (local and multinational), enforcement agencies etc.
  4. Mandatory Compliances / Declarations – wholesalers, Retailers etc.
  5. Exemptions under the Act and reasons for the same.
  6. Licensing and registration requirements
  7. Penal Provisions under the Act for non compliance.
  8. How to mitigate show cause notices and remedial actions.
  9. Case laws on legal metrology queries.
